LIGHT OBJECT

The TREE of LIGHT rises like a living being – an organic sculpture made of hand-spun straw silk, crafted from the fine fibers of the mulberry tree. From a cylindrical trunk, hemispherical forms of varying sizes spiral upwards, their surfaces traversed by delicate lines of light. They converge in a luminous dome, like a crown. Each contour bears the mark of the hand that created it, an imperfection that reflects the perfect irregularity of nature. The delicate light appears sometimes sharply defined, sometimes diffusely scattered, nestled beautifully between the layers of straw silk.

A slender marble base anchors the work and conceals the light source. The viewer is invited to circle it – following the light, the form, and the spiraling movement, into a tranquil, poetic atmosphere where the essence lies not at the center, but at the edge, in the spaces between, in the peripheral experience of the space.

Organic Light Grows

To allow the light to rise organically from the base, the fibre optics are individually hand-worked to emit light unevenly from the side. They are then draped and fixed by hand in the desired position between the layers of straw silk. The more the ambient light diminishes, the more visible the lines of light become.
